Because Lotusland is a public garden operating in a private, residential neighborhood, advance tour reservations are required to visit.

Reservation Details

We want everyone to have the opportunity to visit. Please keep in mind, Lotusland is a public garden in a residential neighborhood and operates under strict limitations set by the County of Santa Barbara. Due to high demand and limited yearly visitations, we recommend all visitors and Members make reservations at least 3-4 weeks in advance. Tickets are released online two months at a time.

Welcome to Lotusland, perhaps the most private public garden in the world. Spend two hours walking through gardens brimming with exotic flora found all over the world. Due to high demand and limited yearly visitations, we recommend all visitors and members make reservations at least 3-4 weeks in advance.

Lotusland is open by advance reservations only on Wednesday – Saturday. Please carefully note the schedule below as it has recently changed.

Wed-Fri 9:15 AM and 9:30 AM – Docent tours (only Members may choose to Self-guide during Docent-led tours)

Wed-Fri 1:15 and 1:30 – Self-guided tours. As of June 1st, Docent-led tours available upon request

Saturdays 9:15 AM, 9:30 AM, 1:15 PM, and 1:30 – Docent tours and self-guided tours available

Docent-led tours are offered for no additional fee and include a dynamic two-hour guided informational tour through the Gardens.Learn all about the history, horticulture, and collections of Lotusland.

Self-guided tours allow access to the same Gardens and areas as docent-led tours.Visitors can go at their own pace and learn about the Gardens through QR codes and interpretive signage.

Lotusland’s Garden Shop prides itself on being home to many talented local artists. From original paintings and prints of our gardens to stunning jewelry exclusively made for Lotusland. Bring the gardens home with our Lotus leaf plates made from actual leaves and hand-dyed scarves created by our assistant curator. Chose from a selection of baskets and birdhouses weaved from plants in the garden, and a wide range of propagated plants are available to help bring your lovely garden to life.
