Well-being at Lotusland- JAPANESE MUSIC Meditation
Nature restores us and promotes a sense of well-being. Join us for an opportunity to engage with nature and experience the Garden with a fresh perspective. We encourage participants to make an additional reservation for the afternoon tour to extend the Garden experience.
Please wear comfortable weather appropriate clothing and footwear and bring a refillable water bottle. If you do not have a yoga mat Lotusland will supply one.
Professor Fabio Rambelli will guide participants through the ancient wellness technique of sound bathing, using the shō, an ancient Japanese instrument with multiphonic capacity which will serve as the interface between the cosmos and the body-mind. By exploring how different scales and modes relate to colors, seasons, hours of the day, and emotions, and by accepting all sounds in their beauty, we will aim to attain a state of deep mindfulness in which each single sound becomes a microcosm.
Fabio Rambelli
Fabio Rambelli is a leading scholar in Japanese Religions and Cultural History at UC Santa Barbara. As a practitioner of the shō, he integrates academic and musical traditions to explore the role of sound in religious and philosophical thought.
