Fabulous from Head to Toe: Madame Walska’s Hats and Shoes
Kaye Spilker, curator of costume and textiles at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), will present an illustrated lecture about the extensive collection of fabulous hats and shoes that belonged to Madame Walska and are now owned by LACMA. The lecture will be followed by a reception.
Ms. Spilker’s lecture is in conjunction with the fascinating exhibit, “Ganna Walska: Collections and Keepsakes” on view in Lotusland’s Pavilion through April 21. The exhibit features some of Madame Walska’s personal possessions including evening dresses, exquisite shoes, and a wide range of extraordinary hats created by famous designers of the day.

Ganna Walska died March 2, 1984, at Lotusland, leaving her garden and her entire estate to the Ganna Walska Lotusland Foundation, to insure that her legacy would remain in her gardens.
