The Spanish style Visitor Center was built in 1993 to facilitate public tours. Its design is modeled after the historic George Washington Smith bath house adjacent to the Water Garden, and it houses a garden shop, patio, rest rooms, and a gathering area for visitors.
Features include tile benches, an arbor covered with Australian Tea Tree (Leptospermum laevigatum) and a tile fountain, which has a lotus design by local artist Judy Sutcliffe.
In order to preserve the eucalyptus grove which previously existed on the site and to provide a demonstration garden of a relatively unknown group of plants, all the plants in the surrounding garden are native to Australia. The design, by landscape architect Sydney Baumgartner, incorporates grouping large masses of unusual plants in imitation of Madame Walska's style.
