Docent Training for Fall 2007

Every other fall Lotusland presents a 14-week docent-training course that provides all necessary information for conducting garden tours. Instructors are drawn from Lotusland staff, the Santa Barbara community, and experts from California academic and horticultural institutions. These informative and enjoyable Monday morning sessions consist of an indoor presentation followed by an outdoor portion, lasting from 9:30 AM to noon. Docent training begins on September 17.

Upon completion of the program docents are expected to lead one two-hour tour each week during our open season (mid-February through mid-November). After the completion of docent training, Lotusland provides additional opportunities for volunteers to continue their horticultural education through monthly meetings and field trips.
