Lotusland's Best Management Practices

cacti As Lotusland develops techniques for sustainable care of its collections and other landscaping, we pass the information on through our " Best Management Practices" which have been presented at workshops for landscape professionals and our members, and printed as articles in our newsletter.

The following strategies practiced at Lotusland are not compatible with chemical inputs that can be toxic and degrade biological systems. A garden's ecosystem is incredibly complex, with all of the organisms having an effect on each other. The management activities undertaken will have an effect on all of the organisms in the system. Sustainable practices, which have long-term beneficial impacts that enhance your garden's ecosystem, are well worth the extra thought and planning that make them so effective.

Click on any title below for a detailed description of our management practices on that topic.
